ABOUT NOKIO THE N-TITY

Known best for founding the Baltimore-based R&B act Dru Hill, this songwriter, music producer, and vocalist also produced tracks for such rappers as DMX and Kurupt.

Born Tamir Mateen Raheem Hameed Ruffin, he grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He founded Dru Hill in 1992.

In 2008, he and his Dru Hill bandmates toured with the Bell Biv Devoe and Tony! Toni! Toné! R&B groups.

His relationship with video producer Margo Wainwright resulted in a son named Jordan. With radio host Angie Martinez, he had a second child, Niko.

He and the rapper Sisqo (Mark Althavean Andrews) were both founding members of Dru Hill.
