ABOUT NORMAN WHITFIELD
Writer and producer of Motown classics like "War" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." He helped create the Motown sound.
He moved to Detroit in his late teens and petitioned the burgeoning Motown label to give him a job.
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004.
He fathered four sons and one daughter.
He wrote and produced songs for several legendary artists, including Marvin Gaye and The Temptations.
