He first played professionally with the Cuban team Pinar del Rio in 2005.
He played for the Cuban national team from 2006 to 2007.
He had a son named Dennis with his wife Liang Perez.
He was joined by Clint Dempsey on the Seattle Sounders FC in 2013.
