French singer who a household name all over the world with songs like "Mademoiselle chante le blues" and "Mon mec à moi."

Despite a number of initial rejections from record companies, she was able to release her first single, "Jalouse," with Gerard Depardieu 's help in 1985.

With a powerful voice and an impressive stage presence, she has sold more than sixteen million records since her debut, toured worldwide, and competed in the Eurovision Song Contest.

She was born in Forbach in Lorraine, France near the German border. Her mother encouraged her to sing at an early age.

She took on a new project in 2012, covering in live stage performances twenty-one of Edith Piaf's songs.
