National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee who was a premier defender for the U.S. national team from 1984 to 1997.
He played three seasons for the UCLA Bruins before turning professional in 1986.
He received the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award in 1986.
He had three children with his wife Jenny.
He was teammates with Cobi Jones on the Los Angeles Galaxy from 1997 to 2001.
