ABOUT PAULO FUTRE

Journeyman Portuguese left winger who represented his country in the 1986 World Cup and won the 1987 European Cup with Porto.

He joined the youth system of the Sporting Clube de Portugal at nine and made his first appearance on the senior team at 17.

His long career was spent with teams all over Europe. He even had a brief stint in Japan.

He grew up in Montijo, Portugal.

He and fellow winger Luís Figo were both longtime members of the Portuguese national soccer team.
