Co-screenwriter of The Town, a 2010 Ben Affleck film. His novels include Hot Plastic, published in 2004, and Blood Father, published in 2005.
After spending his childhood in Oregon and California, he attended the famed Iowa Writers' Workshop.
He won a Michener-Copernicus Fellowship for The Martini Shot, his 1998 debut novel.
His first marriage produced two daughters. In 2008, he married second wife Jennifer Defransisco.
His mother is acclaimed actress Sally Field .
