She starred in school productions as a child, including Annie and The Sound of Music, and later appeared on Star Search.

She once played in a band that included then-unknown country singer, Blake Shelton .

She grew up with her family in West Virginia before moving to Nashville in the 1990s.

She co-wrote Jessica Simpson 's songs, "Come On Over" and "Remember That" in 2008.
