Before becoming a successful novelist, she worked as an English teacher.
Her writing has been featured in anthologies like The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance and Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions.
She has two children named Melody and Maestro.
Both she and Maggie Stiefvater have built a career writing fantasy novels for young adults.
