ABOUT REED WHITTEMORE

Poet, author, academic, and two-time United States Poet Laureate who is famous for a 1974 poetry collection entitled The Mother's Breast and the Father's House. His other works include An American Takes a Walk (poems) and From Zero to Absolute (prose).

He founded a literary magazine called Furioso during his undergraduate years at Yale University.

His Yale roommate, James Angleton, became an important counterintelligence official for the CIA.

He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and his family sent him to boarding school in Massachusetts.
