ABOUT RICHARD HOWARD
American poet, author, translator, critic, and professor who published Untitled Subjects in 1969. His other poetic works include Fellow Feelings, Misgivings, and Fallacies of Wonder.
He studied at Paris' Sorbonne and worked briefly as a lexicographer.
He received the National Book Award for his translation of Charles Baudelaire 's Les Fleurs du Mal.
He was adopted as an infant by Harry Orwitz and Emma Joseph, a Jewish couple living in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a friend of poet W.H. Auden .
