ABOUT ROBERT TOWNSEND

Actor and comedian best known for playing the role of the father on the series, The Parent 'Hood, which he also executive produced. He has also directed many episodes of television, including two of the hit Netflix series Kaleidoscope .

He was in the musical film, The Five Heartbeats after the success of Hollywood Shuffle which he wrote, directed, and produced.

He was initially supposed to be a cast member on Saturday Night Live, but it never happened because producers chose Eddie Murphy instead. In 1987, he directed the comedy Hollywood Shuffle.

He has three children from his ex-wife, Cheri Jones.

He directed Phantom Punch starring Nicholas Turturro .
