ABOUT ROLAND ROBINSON
Australian poet and author associated with the Jindyworobak movement and known for Tumult of the Swans, Language of the Sand, and other poetry collections. He was a recipient of both the Patrick White Award and the Order of Australia Medal.
He worked numerous manual labor jobs, held a position in the Australian Army, and also had a career as a ballet dancer.
He was a superb storyteller who collected and recorded the folklore of Aboriginal people from every corner of Australia.
He moved from Ireland to Australia at the age of nine. Between 1973 and 1978, he published three autobiographical works.
He was a contemporary of fellow Australian poet Judith Wright .
