ABOUT ROLF BENIRSCHKE

An American former football player for the San Diego Chargers who later hosted the daytime version of Wheel of Fortune .

He attended La Jolla HIgh School in San Diego then later the University of California at Davis; his father was a German immigrant.

He was awarded the NFL Player of the Year Award in 1983 then later was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame.

He has four children named Timmy, Ryan, Erik, and Kari.

He worked alongside Vanna White on the game show Wheel of Fortune.
