Versatile actor who has made notable appearances on stage, in film, in television, and as a voice actor in video games. He is perhaps best known as the Narrator for the children's program The Teletubbies.
His first acting role came in the 1980 movie Little Lord Fauntleroy.
He played the role of Lieutenant Briggs in the critically acclaimed war film Saving Private Ryan.
He has a son who is a graduate of Oxford.
