ABOUT RUKIYA BERNARD

Both an actress and interior designer better known for the former profession which has seen her land roles in SyFy's Van Helsing and the Disney Channel original movie Freaky Friday . She plays Simone Abara in the popular Showtime series Yellowjackets .

She took part in basketball and track and also studied classical ballet, karate, and piano. She graduated with honors from Ryerson University 's theatre program.

She has been featured in blockbuster films such as The Cabin in the Woods , The Day The Earth Stood Still , and Colossal. She starred in the HGTV reality show The Stagers for two seasons.

Her mother Nyakiringa Magugu was an African art store owner. Her father Gilbert Bernard was a car wash owner. She has two children.

She stars alongside Kelly Overton in Van Helsing.
