ABOUT SAADAT HASAN MANTO
Indian-born, Pakistani short story writer whose works in the Urdu language include Bu (Odor) and Khol Do (Open It). He is perhaps best known for Thanda Gosht (Cold Meat) and Kaali Shalwar (Black Pants).
His early study of important French and Russian literary works greatly influenced his own literary development.
His writing has been compared to that of D.H. Lawrence.
He and his wife, Safia, were married in 1939.
Manto's literary works, like those of beatnik poet Allen Ginsberg , were criticized for their allegedly obscene content.
