She was born in Australia only a couple of months after the Sivan family moved from South Africa.

She was born to Laurelle and Shaun Mellet. Her father was raised Jewish and her mother converted to Judaism. She has another brother named Steele .

She met John Cleese when Troye worked on the film Spud.
