He had his first uncredited action role at age 5 in the film Eddie Mountain.
He was named the National TV Awards Best Newcomer in 2004.
He has five older brothers and three older sisters. He was engaged to long-term girlfriend Briony Gardner in 2017 and they tied the knot in 2019. They have three children together; a son named Sonny, a daughter named Daisy, and a daughter namedHazel Marie Aston.
He was a guest on The Corrie Years in 2012, which is narrated by Katherine Kelly .
