He debuted in 1995 as Peter Phelan in Brookside.

He made his silver screen debut in 2010 as Elvis in If You Ever Get to Heaven.

His father, Ken McGlashan, was a labor councillor. He married former actress and glamour model Linda Lusardi . The couple has two children, Jack and Lucy.

In 2008, he had a recurring spot on Emmerdale alongside Lucy Pargeter .
