ABOUT SAMUEL R. DELANY

An American novelist known for Babel-17 and The Einstein Intersection, he also wrote several essays on sexuality and society. He was a four-time recipient of the Nebula Award and a two-time winner of the Hugo Award.

As a boy, he attended the Dalton School and the Bronx High School of Science. He later studied at the City College of New York.

He was married to poet Marilyn Hacker for two decades. A bisexual, he entered a long-term relationship with Dennis Rickett in 1991.
