ABOUT SANDHYA MUKHOPADHYAY
A singer of Bengali music, she was known for her National Film Award-winning work in films like Nishi Padma.
She received her music training under the tutelage of professors A.T. Kannan and Chinmoy Lahiri.
She received the Banga-Vibhushan, the highest civilian award given by the West Bengali government, in 2011 for her contributions to the arts.
She married poet Shyamal Gupta in 1966.
She recorded music for the film Raktakta Bangla, directed by Salil Chowdhury .
