ABOUT SATABDI ROY
After appearing in more than one hundred Indian films, this screen actress pursued a career as a politician. In 2009, she began serving the Birbhum constituency in the Indian Parliament.
She appeared in her first Indian film, Atanka, in 1986. Around this time, she also studied at the University of Calcutta's Jogamaya Devi College.
When not engaged in acting or politics, she wrote Bengali-language poetry.
Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, she was raised in the Hindu faith by Nilima and Shailen Roy.
She worked with director Raja Sen on the 2004 Bengali film Debipaksha.
