ABOUT SCOTT MCKENZIE
Member of the short-lived band The Journeymen during the peak of folk music. He released his best-remembered single "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" in 1967.
During his high school days, he was in a group called The Singing Strings and followed that performing in a doo-wop group called The Abstracts.
His hit single "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "San Francisco" has garnered more than 100 million streams on Spotify.
He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and died in Los Angeles, California.
He co-wrote songs with Mike Love when they were a part of the new version of the band The Mamas and the Papas.
