ABOUT SEPIDEH

Iranian singer who rose to fame as a member of the all-female group Silhouettt. She made her debut as a solo artist with the 2004 album Girl in the Mirror. Her sophomore album, No Fear, dropped in 2007.

She started singing with a band called Setareh in high school. She gigged throughout the east coast of the United States with a band called Mask before her music career took off.

She posts music videos and political commentary on her sepidehmusic Instagram account, where she has gained more than 1.4 million followers. Her official Facebook page also features music videos and has racked up more than 1 million followers.

Her full name is Sepideh Afshar. She has Kurdish ancestry through her father. She married Dale Sercu and later resided in Los Angeles, California.

She was compared to Shakira in the book Soundtrack of the Revolution: The Politics of Music in Iran.
