ABOUT SIMON KUPER
Sports writer who made use of the anthropological perspective to examine sports behavior in Ajax, The Dutch, the War: Football in Europe during the Second World War and Soccer Against the Enemy.
He moved to Netherlands from Uganda and attended Oxford and Harvard universities.
He won the 1994 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award for his book Football Against the Enemy.
His father, Adam Kuper, worked as an anthropology lecturer at Leiden University.
Sweedish poet Johannes Anyuru 's father was also born in Uganda.
