ABOUT SKYLER HOWARD

Dual-threat quarterback who took over the starting role for the West Virginia Mountaineers at the end of the 2014 season. In 2015, his first full season as a starter, he led the team to an 8-5 record.

Lightly recruited out of high school, he had success playing at Riverside City College in California, which led to a scholarship offer from West Virginia.

Although a talented payer in his own right, his starting opportunity stemmed from the unfortunate retirement of quarterback Clint Trickett, who ended his career after suffering five concussions in 14 months.

His mother's name is Deidre Kelly. He has a bachelor's degree in communication studies.

He's played for Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia.
