Country and pop singer who gained fame while he was a member of the band The Crickets. His first album was 1964's Beatle Hits Flamenco Style Guitar.
He grew up in Lubbock, Texas with his friend and band member Buddy Holly.
Curtis was put into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville in 2007 with the band The Crickets.
He married Louise Curtis in 1970 and they had one daughter.
Curtis was teenage friends with musician Buddy Holly and joined the band The Crickets after Holly's death.
