Self-help author who published more than 20 empowering books from 1999 to 2013. She reached the finals in the OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network My OWN Show contest in 2010.

She founded and acted as host for the first Women's Success Conference in 1997. She was given a Key to the City of Lansing in 2004.

In honor of her father, she started the started the Alfred L. Scott Read to Succeed Foundation in 2008. She has over 410,000 followers on her Instagram account.

She married James Pierce in 1991.

Her work towards empowering women led to her being invited to the White House for lunch with First Lady Laura Bush .
