Midfielder who played for Crystal Palace, and became team manager and chief scout for the club after retirement.

After two years in the Crystal Palace youth league, he signed a professional contract, and by his early 20s, he became a starter on the team.

His presence with Crystal Palace seemed to be the best predictor of their success: while he was away, they were relegated to the Third Division, and when he came back, they were promoted back to First.

All three of his sons went through the Palace youth system, and played in non-league sides.

Mark Bright was another player turned coach of Crystal Palace.
