ABOUT STEVE SCALISE

American politician who served as House Majority Leader after serving as the House Minority Whip. He previously held positions in the Louisiana State Senate and the Louisiana House of Representatives, in addition to being the chair of the House Republican Study Committee.

He studied computer science and political science at Louisiana State University . He first became a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1996.

While in college, he was a member of the Acacia Fraternity. In 2017 he was shot by an anti-Trump domestic terrorist, but recovered and returned to Congress later the same year.

He is of Italian descent. He married Jennifer Letulle in 2005, and has two children.

When he assumed office as the House Majority Leader in January of 2023, the speaker of the house was Kevin McCarthy . He has been pictured with George W. Bush and Donald Trump .
