Best-selling author and website creator who is known for Where Good Ideas Come From and other works of popular science. He held the position of writer-in-residence at the Journalism Schools of both Columbia and New York University

He studied semiotics at Brown University and went on to receive a graduate degree in literature from Columbia University.

His book, Everything Bad is Good for You: How Today's Popular Culture Is Actually Making Us Smarter, was published in 2005 and became an instant bestseller.

He and his wife settled in Marin County, California with their three sons.

He and Malcolm Gladwell both became known for their popular works on science and culture.
