ABOUT SUSAN BERMAN
Author and journalist known primarily by her mob-inspired novels such as Easy Street: The True Story of a Mob Family, where she talks about being the daughter of a mobster.
Prior to receiving her master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley , she graduated from UCLA .
Her murder by Robert Durst was was featured on the show 48 hours . In 1996, she was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award for her work on the television documentary Driver, Give a Soldier a Lift! and Lady Las Vegas.
Her father, David Berman, was a former member of the Jewish mob. At his peak, he ran Las Vegas' Flamingo Hotel.
She attended UCLA just like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar .
