She was a member of the Morgan State University choir while studying psychology.

In 1995, she received a nomination for a Best New Artist Soul Train Award.

She married Michael Trotter Jr, a fellow musician and gospel singer.

She performed the song, 'His Eye is on the Sparrow,' with Lauryn Hill in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.
