ABOUT TED BLUNT
Democratic politician and former high school basketball star. He served on the City Council of Wilmington, Delaware from 1985 to 2000 and later served an eight-year term as the council's president.
He attended Winston-Salem Teachers College and later obtained a a graduate social work degree from Rutgers University.
He dedicated himself to improving the lives of young people in his area, working with juvenile gang members and creating scholarships.
His marriage to Alice Latrelle Jackson produced three daughters.
He intended to run for Lieutenant Governor of Delaware -- a post previously held by John C. Carney, Jr. -- but withdrew from the 2008 race to focus on spending time with his family.
