ABOUT THOMAS M. DISCH

An American science fiction writer and poet, he is known for such novels as The Genocides; Camp Concentration; 334; and On Wings of Song. He is associated with the science fiction genre's New Wave movement.

After high school, he worked a summer job as an apprentice to a steel draftsman. He later attended night school at New York University.

He won the John W. Campbell Memorial Award, a Rhysling Award, and two Seiun Awards.

He lived in New York with his partner, poet Charles Naylor.

He wrote a novel in which Thomas Mann is a character.
