Best known for his role as Detective Zain Nadir in the British ITV drama The Bill, he also had recurring roles in such English and American television series as Casualty, 24, and Twisted.
Immediately after studying at St. Lawrence College -- a boarding school in Kent, England -- he pursued a screen acting career in Australia.
A screenwriter as well as an actor, he wrote the script for a 2013 movie called Get Lucky.
After leaving his native England, he settled in Los Angeles, California, with his longtime partner, Annie McQueen.
He appeared in a 2007 episode of the popular David E. Kelley -created series Boston Legal.
