ABOUT TOM CORBETT

This Republican Party politician took office in 2011 as forty-sixth Governor of Pennsylvania. Previously, he had served as Pennsylvania Attorney General and as U.S. Attorney for Pennsylvania's Western District.

After graduating from Lebanon Valley College and working briefly as a high school teacher, he earned a law degree from St. Mary's University.

In 2009, he was responsible for organizing a grand jury to investigate the sexual abuse allegations against one-time Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky .

His marriage to Susan Manbeck resulted in a son named Tom and a daughter named Katherine.

In the late 1980s, fellow Pennsylvania politician Arlen Specter urged then-President George H.W. Bush to nominate Corbett for the position of United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
