ABOUT TOM FARMER
Scottish entrepreneur who became founder and CEO of the automotive repair chain Kwik-Fit in 1971.
He and his six siblings were raised in the Catholic faith.
He was a major donor to the Scottish National Party leading up to the Scottish Parliament's general election in 2007.
He and his wife Anne settled in Edinburgh, Scotland, with their son and daughter.
He was the first Scottish recipient of the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy.
