ABOUT TOYIN ODUTOLA
Visual artist who has become renowned primarily through her varied self-portraits, which she creates using pen, pencil, charcoal and other means. Her first solo exhibition was held at the Whitney Museum in New York in 2017.
She grew up in Alabama, where she earned a B.A. in studio art and communications from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She received her M.F.A. from the California College of the Arts in 2012
She was featured in Forbes' 30 Under 30 in the Art & Style category in 2012.
She has a younger brother named Datun.
She has been influenced by the work of artist John Singer Sargent .
