Trifon Marinov Ivanov
ABOUT TRIFON MARINOV IVANOV
Former center-back who played professionally for eighteen years in countries such as Bulgaria, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Vienna. He played in just over 400 matches during his career. He was also a member of the Bulgarian men's national team. In 2013, a Brazilian amateur tournament was named after him.
He signed his first professional club contract with the Bulgarian Football Club Etar in 1983. He was only a teenager at the time.
During his international career with Bulgaria, he played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup and 1998 FIFA World Cups as well 1996 UEFA Euro Cup in England.
He was born and raised in the Samovodene, Bulgaria area. He died of a heart attack at an early age.
He played the same position as Mats Hummels during his professional career.
