In 1987, she graduated from Willibrord Catholic High School and in 1992, she graduated from Roosevelt University with a music education.

From 2011 to 2019, she was a radio co-producer and host at GOSPEL Rhythms "Heaven's Party Here On Earth." She has been an author and publisher at TMGrant Publishing since 2018.

In 2012, she married Tony Grant. She has a son named Daniel T. Russell.

She starred alongside Valarie Pettiford , Tami Roman and Ernie Hudson in the television series The Family Business.
