Soap actor best known as Adam Trueman on the long-running British series Casualty . He also appeared as Robert Preston on Coronation Street and has had small roles on The Case and Meadowlands.
One of his first acting credits was in 1981 on an episode of Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years.
In 2013, he took to the stage, playing Frank Farmer in the West End play The Bodyguard.
He and English actress Emily Hamilton have three children, Wilfred, Mabel, and Violet.
In 2010, he defeated John Bishop , Anneka Rice , and Ed Byrne in the celebrity edition of Mastermind.
