He was first introduced to his online fandom in an Instagram post by his father in late March of 2015 that David captioned as "BabySharkCorn."

The pictures that he is featured in on his father's Instagram account generated approximately 20,000 likes per post.

His mother Sabrina Moss worked as a fitness trainer. His paternal grandfather is Jeff Moss.

His father joined the Smosh team alongside Ian Hecox .
