American actress who rose to fame for portraying Janae Watson in the popular comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black . She has also appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , New Amsterdam , and Chicago P.D. Her film credits include Frog Kissers, Shake, and Romeo and Juliet in Harlem.

She studied theatre at the State University of New York at New Paltz.

She is of Haitian descent.
