Icelandic singer and musician known for his songs like "Bíddu pabbi" and "Vor í Vaglaskógi." After playing in a band for some years, he bridged off into his solo career in 1970. His voice would cement him as one of Iceland's monumental musical talents.
He first joined a band called Busabandið in 1961 where he learned to play the bass.
His nickname was Villi Vill. He studied medicine and law while in university in Akureyri.
His sister Elly Vilhjálms and father Vilhjálmur Hinrik Ívarsson were also a popular musicians in Iceland.
He and Björk are both known as musical legends of Icelandic birth.
