He attended Government College and the University of Punjab.
He served as chief editor of Auraq, an influential literary magazine.
He was born in Wazir Kot, Pakistan. He grew up speaking Punjabi, Persian, and English.
Like fellow Pakistani author Musharraf Farooqi , Agha wrote in the Urdu language.
