British poet whose works include If I Don't Know and Serious Concerns. She received the Michael Braude Award for Light Verse and was shortlisted for the prestigious Whitbread Award.
She taught primary school for fifteen years before working as an editor and critic.
She wrote a few of her poems from the point of view of a fictional male poet named Jake Strugnell.
She and her life partner -- the Scottish poet Lachlan Mackinnon -- moved to the city of Ely in 2011.
Her poetic style has been compared to that of Philip Larkin .
