William Donald Borders
ABOUT WILLIAM DONALD BORDERS
American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who was the 13th Archbishop of Baltimore from 1974 to 1989.
He studied the priesthood at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans at the end of the 1930's.
He ended segregation within his church by buying the ropes that sectioned off the African American parishioners.
He had six brothers and sisters.
He submitted his letter of resignation to Pope John Paul II in 1989 before moving to a retirement community in Lutherville.
