ABOUT YACOUBA ISAAC ZIDA

Native Burkina Faso military officer who briefly served as that country's acting head of state in November 2014. He took power in the aftermath of the 2014 uprising, sidelining a more senior officer. He was in office until December 2015. He has 9,000 followers on Twitter and 240,000 on Facebook.

He earned a master's degree in international management from the University of Lyon. He also received military training from the American army. Under President Blaise Compaoré, he served as deputy commander of the Regiment of Presidential Security.

He was a UN peacekeeper in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2008 to 2009.

He was born Yacouba Isaac Zida in what used to be known as the Upper Volta, now Burkina Faso.

Back in 2020, he tweeted condolences to the late president of Ghana Jerry Rawlings .
